Laser Fume Extractor

Product Description

Metals are the working substrate for the laser but now it trends to plastic, paper and wood. So it leads to Laser as an emerging source for every machinery operation. It is enormously used to Lasing PVC, lasing polymers, laser welding, laser cutting, laser graving. This fume is a mixture of particulate and gaseous matter.Fume from materials such as metals and glass is mainly particulate matter, the majority of which is less than 1µ (micron) in diameter.Organic materials, particularly plastics, produce much more complex fumes. Most of the particles are spherical and roughly 90% by weight are less than 1µ in diameter.

These particles fall within the respirable range and need to be removed from the working environment to prevent bronchal or lung damage. The gaseous organic compounds produced are known as Volatile Organic Compounds, VOC’s. The VOC’s produced are a mixture of the following: Alkane, Alkene, Benzene, Toluene, Xylene, Formaldehyde, Benzo (Or) Pyrene. Additionally some materials have other specific groups e.g. PVC polymers generate HCl, component epoxy polymers yield amines and PET generates THF.These laser fume extractors are portable, cost efficient, reliable and suitable for most environments including offices, schools, universities, museums and commercial/industrial locations.

Filtration systems comprised of inexpensive pre-filters, HEPA filters and large gas/odor filters that remove potentially harmful laser fumes and returns purified air to the workplace. A considerable number of the above have Occupational exposure limits set for them and these are detailed in the Operator health section.

Apzem type fume extractor provide source capturing filter to collect the fumes produced when laser is used at any machining operation. Apzem designed the laser fume extractor as containing three chambers as, a pre filter to protect the higher cost, HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) for the finer particulates and finally a gas/chemical filter.

Pre Filter:

The efficiency of the pre filter is directly related to the life of the HEPA in that themore particulates captured in it, the less can pass through and prematurely block the HEPA. When plastics are being lasered, the particulate size generated is typically 0.2microns. At this level of filtration the media has an efficiency of 65% when metals are being lasered the particulate size being generated is typically below 1micron. Apzem Advantage range of laser fume purification systems has an efficiency of 80% at 0.2 microns and 95% at 1micron. And also it regulates the fume-air flow combination to the next chamber.

HEPA type filter:

HEPA Filter – Up to 99.97% efficient on particles 0.3 microns and larger. Advantage micro filters are positioned within the system in such a way that all the particulates are not only captured but held within the media.

Gas/Chemical Filtration:

Most standard chemical filters are made up of a 50/50 mix of Activated Aluminium Potassium Permanganate and Active carbon. The media neutralizes a broad base of chemicals and VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) pollutants. Where PVC is lasered a third gas media should be introduced that is specifically designed to absorb and neutralize harmful and extremely corrosive HCL (Hydrogen Chloride) gas. Apzem Engineers and Consultants will undergo a thorough field study and understands the process, source and the amount of pollutants generated, and its nature and type of pollutants present so as to optimally design the scrubber that would decreases unwanted costs and increases efficiency. These three stages of Apzem fume extraction system provides you a healthy environment.
